The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Cuba celebrated the 48th National Day on December 2nd, 2019. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Margarita González Fernández, Minister of Labor and Social Security; and H.E. Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. In delivering his keynote address to members of the diplomatic corps as well as business, media, culture, and educational leaders, UAE Ambassador Bader Almatrooshi highlighted the year of tolerance and the efforts of the Arab nation to promote this concept, as well as the most outstanding achievements of the country, including the strength of the UAE passport, the establishment of the "Mohammed Bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence" and the recent journey of the 1st Emirati astronaut, Hazza Al Mansouri, also the 1st Arab astronaut to visit the International Space Station. In his remarks, the Ambassador also commended the advancements in the overall bilateral relations between the UAE, the Caribbean, and Cuba. As part of the celebration, the Embassy also organized an exhibition of pictures to showcase the culture, history, traditions, achievements and the Year of Tolerance with a special tribute to the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAE founding father. A unique piece of art was also presented, created by prominent Cuban artist Michel Mirabal as a special gift to the Embassy.
